P&O Cruises Australia, in collaboration with Cruise Eden, proudly launched a pioneering two-year School-Based Traineeship (SBAT) in Certificate III Tourism—the first program of its kind for a regional port in Australia. This innovative initiative was created to foster vocational training and open career pathways for young professionals passionate about the thriving tourism industry along the South Coast.
We are excited to celebrate the remarkable achievement of the program’s inaugural graduates, Keely Grebert and Ocea Thiedeman, who have successfully completed their Certificate III in Tourism!
Starting their journey as Year 11 students at Eden Marine High School, Keely and Ocea received invaluable mentorship from Cruise Eden Manager and Educator Debbie Meers. Throughout the two-year program, they gained hands-on experience by supporting Cruise Eden’s cruise day operations and broadened their industry knowledge through partnerships with other local tourism businesses during the off-season.
This program not only provided Keely and Ocea with practical skills and industry exposure but also set a new standard for regional tourism career development. Their success paves the way for future students to explore exciting opportunities in the tourism sector.
Congratulations to Keely and Ocea on this significant milestone and for inspiring the next generation of tourism professionals!
